I have to say that while Netdoc is a truly great concept, it is getting just too hard to keep using this app. Today I did an apt-get upgrade of my Ubuntu Hoary system (no, I have not upgraded to Breezy yet) ...
and broke my Apache2 install, thanks to eAccellerator with the following error:
PHP Fatal error: Unable to start eAccelerator module in Unknown on line 0 PHP Warning: [eAccelerator] This build of "eAccelerator" was compiled for PHP version 4.3.10-10ubuntu4. Rebuild it for your PHP version (4.3.10-10ubuntu4.2) or download precompiled binaries.\n in Unknown on line 0
After spending much time and effort getting NetDoc working (and thank you very much for the help with that), I am very sad to say I am considering exporting my information from it and removing it from the server (when I get things running again!).
I have not decided yet but it is very likely I will stop using NetDoc altogether. Too much maintenance hassle! All this would be changed (and yyour number of users might go up!) if you would consider releasing ND in some package form (RPM or APT).
Sorry to hear that. I know that eAccelerator is a pain, but I think I cannot, at this point, release this as a package.
I can get you a refund if you want, though? I wouldn't want to hold the money if you are not happy. I would be happier if you were.
I'm concentrating on the subscription model (editsite.net) where there are no maintenance hassles (thank god no eA problems for them) and the pay is from the resources + service anyway so you can easily see what you get.
On the traditional software business there might be moral problems if people are not happy with it after all .. :) And on the other hand I just can't see how I could make a living from open source, so that's why the service model then. At least web apps can be flexible about which model to use.
There will probably be more options on editsite.net too, soon...
Oh no, I'm not asking for a refund (thanks for offerring). I just wanted to send some candid feedback to you.
Personally I will continue hoping for a Netdoc package ... maybe not in one of the 'no cost' repositories though. Not all of us want to use a hosted service!
eaccellerator is a pain.

Yes the packaging would solve a lot of problems, or even maybe using something else than eAccelerator. I will see....
