Links are absolute, not relative?

2 years, 8 months ago

Hello again Ilkka,

I have been working happily in Netdoc for some time now - it's great. But have stumbled across a problem.

No matter what I do, I can't seem to make links in Netdoc's html code stay relative. If I edit the link to be just "/somepath/somedoc.html", Netdoc always rewrites it to "http://servername/somepath/somefile.html"

This occurs even if I use the 'html' widget from the toolbar and edit links by hand. I tried using <?PHP $SERVER_NAME ?> but this fails too. Of course I can edit the page properties checking the 'PHP script' checkbox but now the whole page must be edited as plaintext rather than wysiwyg.

Do you know any workaround?

Thanks!

The problem is with Internet Explorer. To be fair, Firefox doesn't behave that well either.

While FF rewrites (=forces) URLs to be relative, IE rewrites URLs to absolute. I don't like either behavior, I would rather not have browsers rewrite my URLs.

I inspected this and decided not to re-rewrite IE's URLs to relative. It would cause other problems. I'm already doing a lot of url rewriting and I think it should be like it is with the newest version...

How about if you tried Firefox? At least it doesn't rewrite URLs to absolute, and if relative URLs were what you are after, that might suit just fine?
